1. Data Controller
This website (metetezel.com) is operated by Mete Tezel, who acts as the data controller under Turkey's Law No. 6698 on the Protection of Personal Data ("KVKK"). For any questions about how your personal data is processed, you can reach out via the contact form at the bottom of the site.
2. Personal Data Processed and Purposes
a) Contact form: When you reach out through this site, the name, email address, and message content you provide are processed solely to respond to your inquiry.
b) If you accept cookies: If you accept the cookie notice shown at the bottom of the page, Google Analytics (GA4) collects device/browser information, an approximate location (derived from your IP address), pages viewed, and on-site interactions, in order to measure site performance and improve the user experience. None of this data is collected unless you give consent.
c) Anonymous site analytics (independent of consent): This site also collects cookieless, anonymized traffic statistics via Ahrefs Web Analytics. Your IP address is never stored in raw form; it is irreversibly hashed with a key that changes daily and is deleted every 24 hours, which prevents your visit from being linked across days or across sites. Since no persistent identifier is used, this processing does not depend on your cookie consent.
3. Method and Legal Basis of Collection
Contact form data is collected directly from you when you submit the form, based on the data controller's legitimate interest in being able to respond to your request (KVKK Art. 5/2(f)). Analytics cookie data is collected automatically through your browser, based on your explicit consent (KVKK Art. 5/1). Anonymous site analytics data is processed under the data controller's legitimate interest in measuring site performance (KVKK Art. 5/2(f)), in a manner that is not suited to identifying you.
4. Data Transfers
Personal data collected through this site may be shared with the following service providers, for the stated purposes:
- Formspree, Inc. (USA): to process and deliver contact form messages to me.
- Google LLC / Google Ireland Limited (Google Analytics): only if you've accepted cookies, for site usage analytics.
- Ahrefs Pte. Ltd. (Singapore): for anonymized (hashed) site traffic statistics; no data that could identify you is shared.
Since these providers are based outside Turkey (USA, Singapore), this constitutes an international data transfer under KVKK Art. 9. The Formspree and Google Analytics transfers are based on your explicit consent; the Ahrefs transfer is based on legitimate interest, since the data is anonymized. In all cases, the transfer is limited to the stated purpose.
5. Cookies
This site only uses Google Analytics' third-party analytics cookies once you click "Accept" on the cookie notice. These cookies are used to measure your visit, page views, and interactions, and are retained for the periods set out in Google's own policies. You can change your preference at any time via the "Cookie Preferences" link at the bottom of the page.
6. Data Retention
Messages sent through the contact form are retained for as long as needed to resolve your request, then deleted within a reasonable period. Analytics data is retained according to Google Analytics' own retention settings.
7. Your Rights Under KVKK
Under Article 11 of KVKK, you have the right to request from me:
- confirmation of whether your personal data is being processed,
- information about that processing if it is,
- to learn the purpose of processing and whether it's used consistently with that purpose,
- to know the third parties, domestic or abroad, to whom your data has been transferred,
- correction of incomplete or inaccurate data,
- deletion or destruction of your data within the conditions set out in KVKK,
- notification of any correction or deletion to third parties your data was transferred to,
- to object to a result that is to your detriment arising solely from automated analysis of your data,
- compensation for damages arising from unlawful processing.
8. How to Exercise Your Rights
You can submit a written request to exercise the rights above via the contact form. Your request will be resolved as soon as possible, and no later than 30 days.
